How to Read Enemy Waves Before They Hit
Most tower defence losses I see come from reacting to a wave instead of anticipating it. The games almost always tell you what is coming if you look, and learning to read that preview is the single biggest skill jump you can make.
Start by checking the wave composition during the build phase. If a map is about to throw armoured units, scattering splash damage everywhere wastes money. Save for penetration or slow effects instead. It feels counterintuitive early on because the board looks fine.
Watch for lane switches. Many games introduce a second path a few waves before they actually use it, hoping you ignore it. I like to drop one cheap unit on any empty lane as insurance, then forget about it until it suddenly matters.
The habit that helped me most was pausing on wave one of each map and planning two waves ahead out loud. It sounds silly, but narrating the plan stops you from making reflex purchases you regret.
Do this for a week across a couple of games and you will notice the panic drains out of your play. You start winning not because you tapped faster, but because the fight already went the way you expected.
